Celtic close to wrapping up deal for new winger
It’s being reported in Spain that Celtic are close to completing a deal for summer target Haissem Hassan. The Real Oviedo player has been linked to Celtic all summer after an impressive World Cup performance with Egypt. The club now appear to be close to a £9million pound move for the winger despite earlier reports that he was on the verge of joining French side Marseille.
Spanish publication La Nueva España is claiming that Celtic are pushing hard for the move and will look to wrap up things ahead of the Champions League deadline. It looks like Celtic have managed to meet the selling clubs valuation and a deal now looks likely barring any last minute hiccups.
Competition in the wide areas
The news will be welcomed by manager Martin O’Neill who looks eager to add quality wingers to his squad this transfer window. O’Neill had Didier Agathe in his side first time round and it looks like he Hassan will offer something similar in terms of pace.
Hassan doesn’t have a great goalscoring record, however Celtic fans will be encouraged at his impressive World Cup showing, particularly against Argentina. The club and fans will be hoping he can replicate that tournament form and deliver assists for the clubs new strike force this season.

No deal confirmed yet
It must be stressed that there has been no deal announced by either party at this stage. So far the Spanish publication has announced that an agreement is close. La Nueva España mentions that personal terms are not expected to be an issue but anything can still happen until the deal is official confirmed.
Celtic along with Rangers have also been heavily linked to a move for Frosinone winger Farès Ghedjemis. However with the price being quoted at around 15 million euros, it looks like the club have returned to do a deal for Hassan instead. Whether Celtic return for Ghedjemis after securing a deal for Hassan remains to be seen and is likely to depend on further departures from the club. Most likely Tounekti and Balikwisha.
