Celtic have reportedly made progress in their pursuit of Hajduk Split midfielder Niko Sigur. The Daily Record reports that the Scottish champions are looking to conclude a deal for the Canadian midfielder but will have to wait until after the first leg of the Croatian sides Conference League playoff. The player himself is reportedly keen on the move to Parkhead. Manager Martin O’Neill will be hoping a deal can be concluded as soon as possible to give the squad another boost ahead of their own European playoff tie.
The versatile Canadian international can play as a deep midfielder or cover at right back if necessary. Cover that Celtic have needed in recent times with AJ’s injury record. It’s certainly a signing that would give the manager more options when making future team selections after the department of Arne Engels to West Ham.
