Manager reassures fans saying there are signings on the way

Martin O’Neill has spoken to Luke Shanley at Sky Sports this morning and promised the fans that more players will arrive before the end of the deadline. The Celtic manager stated that he was looking for quality not quantity but guaranteed that reinforcements were on the way. O’Neill told Sky Sports -

“I think we are trying to get some quality into the football club, we’ve lost Daizen, he was a big big player for us, so we have to replace him, and I think we are doing our best to do that. We will get some more players in, there’s no question about that also, but yeah I want quality rather than quantity.”

This will prove reassuring to Celtic supporters who have been once again left frustrated at the speed at which the club’s hierarchy appear to be working on securing new signings. With the new season kicking off for Celtic on Monday night, the fans will want the club to hurry up and boost the squad with the quality the manager needs before the upcoming Champions League qualifier.

Opinion

I think all fans recognise that the squad needs several quality additions before the deadline so Martin’s words are encouraging. They also seem to indicate a change in strategy somewhat. Away from the scattergun approach of signing several players trying to unearth a gem. The manager has indicated he wants quality in the door, so hopefully the club give him what he wants in preparation of the big games ahead.
