Celtic FC is drifting toward a moment of reckoning; one the board can no longer swerve, soften, or avoid. For years, the club has operated in a strange half light: successful enough domestically to mask deeper issues in the way the club was being run. Now, with pressure mounting from supporters and shareholders, Celtic stands on the edge of a transformation that will either be bold and strategic⌠or chaotic and damaging.
Letâs be clear: change is coming. Whether it arrives through a voluntary passing of the torch or not, the current model simply cannot hold. However, change alone is not the victory. That is important to note. We must ensure the right custodians take control of Celtic Football Club.
What is certain is that the club needs renewal, not just new faces, but a new philosophy of governance. And that starts with five nonnegotiable actions that would genuinely rejuvenate Celticâs board and reset the clubâs direction.
1. Directors Must Stick to StrategyâNot Daily Operations
A boardâs job is vision, longterm planning, resource allocation, and safeguarding the clubâs future. It is not picking players, meddling in recruitment, or steering day to day decisions. Celtic needs directors who operate from above, not down in the weeds.
2. Empower the CEO and StaffâThen Hold Them Accountable
Leadership must be trusted to lead. The CEO and senior staff should have the authority to execute strategy without interference and the responsibility to deliver results. Accountability only works when authority is real.
3. Radical Transparency and Real Communication
Celticâs internal culture is unique. Roles blur, decisions drift, and communication often feels non-existent. Directors and staff must operate openly, with clear responsibilities and honest dialogue. Fans deserve clarity, not radio silence.
4. Give Back to the Supporters Who Fund the Clubâs Future
Merchandise and endless monetisation have created a oneway relationship. Celtic must invest in fan experience, not just extract value from it. Supporters are the clubâs lifeblood, not to be treated as a forever revenue stream.
5. Show Ambition Beyond ScotlandâReward European Progress
Winning in Scotland is no longer enough. Without a credible European plan, supporters will drift and standards will fall. Bonuses, incentives, and strategic goals must be tied to continental success. Ambition must be measurable, not rhetorical.
Celtic is at a crossroads. One path leads to renewal, modernisation, and genuine ambition. The other leads to stagnation dressed up as stability. The Board must choose wisely because the supporters are watching, the pressure is rising, and the era of quiet acceptance is over.
Over to you Celtic. Excite the fans and theyâll back you 100%
